We here at From The Ground Up Farms pledge to treat you, our neighbor, with respect and to do our very best to bring nutrition and life skills education, as well as, healthy food to your family at no cost.
At From the Ground Up Farms our mission is simple: to feed our community healthy organic food and to offer nutrition and life skills education workshops to improve the lives in our community.
We have installed 17 Community Gardens to date around Butte County. Most are at private residential facilities which house our most vulnerable populations.
We have professionals available to offer advice and guidance to new gardeners trying to plant their first garden. We can help figure out a solution for small spaces as well.
We teach a variety of workshops focusing on cooking, nutrition, gardening and basic Life Skills that can help those that struggle. We are here to help make these lessons easy to accomplish for anyone.
We work with local professionals already teaching these amazing methods of self healing. We match every instructor to the exact population they will be working with. We teach as much as possible outdoors in the gardens themselves.
We work with "At Risk" populations teaching basic life skills from balancing a checkbook, budgeting, housekeeping, medicine tracking and even just simple grocery shopping, learning how to plan meals and save money.
We work with a wide variety of farmers and we can help you determine what water system best suits your needs.
We teach many methods of extending the life of what you grew or purchased.
We work with many local Homeschool Programs, Children's Groups and Elementary Schools.
We hire licensed, insured professionals to use our mobile sawmill to help fire families turn the negative of their burned trees into the positive of free, useable lumber for rebuilding. They also use our backhoe to provide free help. It can trench for electrical, septic and water, or pull stumps and even level pads.
There are never ending volunteer opportunities. We are always looking for volunteers to teach new classes or kids projects or pull weeds or help prepare food or set up/tear down at events. We are always looking for heavy equipment operators to volunteer or milling and tree felling professionals to help. We are always looking for volunteers. What can you teach our families?
Everything we grow is given to our community, local shelters to feed their guests and food pantries to be distributed in their food boxes to those in need. Our gardens are open for self picking as well.
And don't forget, everything that From The Ground Up does is at no cost to the recipients. Yep, that's right......we grow healthy organic food and give it away for free. Our professionals will mill your wood or dig your trench too.
